  • Brazil has about 3,000 confirmed H1N1 cases

    This year in Brazil, the H1N1 epidemic started earlier – in late summer – and has had more than 3,000 confirmed cases. High sudden fever, severe cough, constant headache, lack of appetite, chills and joint and muscle pain are the main symptoms of H1N1 flu.
  • Just one mosquito can transmit dengue, Zika, chikungunya – and cause a lot of trouble for authorities, health professionals and the general population. With the approach of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, which will be held in Rio de Janeiro in August and September this year, outbreaks in Brazil have been gaining international attention.
  • Blood connects us all. This is the theme of World Blood Donor Day this year, celebrated by the World Health Organization (WHO) on June 14 to encourage blood donation globally. According to WHO, blood donations must increase rapidly in more than half the world's countries to ensure a reliable supply of safe blood for patients whose lives depend on it.
